How doppler works

Scout watches companies cheaply and does the reading. The Desk runs real diligence on the few that heat up, and only when you ask it to.

01Set Up Your Fund Profile

Everything firm-specific lives in your profile: thesis, mandate and thematic criteria, stages, geographies, cheque sizes, value-add. Every stage of diligence judges fit against it. Paste your thesis or point at your fund's website and the fields fill themselves.

No profile means the pipeline reports mandate fit as not assessable. It never invents criteria.

02Watch a Company

Add a name and website on the watchlist. Watching is free: the tearsheet and the scout's first sweep run immediately, then the scout re-sweeps every other week. A paid Scout seat sweeps every Sunday.

The tearsheet is a verdict-free one-pager: what it does, team (with LinkedIn where found), market, competitors, latest press. It's shared: one canonical tearsheet per company, reused by every user who watches it, exportable as a PDF.

03Let the Scout and the Briefing Work

Each sweep records watch events: dated, source-linked signals (funding, hiring, product, pricing), each deep-linking to the passage on the source page. The market radar (Pro) widens the sweep to competitor moves and regulation or market shifts, each marked tailwind ▲ or headwind ▼.

The Monday briefing digests the week, and a window-moving signal (a raise, an acquisition approach) emails you immediately rather than waiting.

04Create a Deal When It Heats Up

Create deal on any watched company starts the first look: a verdict in about four minutes, reach out, pass or uncertain, with the reasoning attached. The scout's file rides along as deal notes.

Until then, nothing sits in your pipeline. Companies added directly as deals also join the watchlist automatically.

05Run Diligence to the Depth the Deal Deserves

The Desk takes it from there: gate decision → triage (upload the deck first) → financial model review → deep diligence → red team → return model → IC memo. Each stage is opt-in, and every claim carries its source.

06Companies Outlive Deals

Every company has a home at Companies, holding deals, signals, documents, and the full timeline in one place. Pass on a deal and the company stays watched; when it moves, “what changed since we passed” diffs the new signals against your pass-time record.
